We love remodels! The way an existing home or space comes together with a few enhancements envisioned by a keen eye. It's important to make sure that the space reflects the personality of the client while maintaining functionality. The Whitefish River House was a space in need of some TLC, and the result is a beautiful home filled with soft colors and warm light.
The house sits just a stones throw from the Whitefish River . . . Perfect walking distance to all the amenities of downtown and you can grab the snow bus for an easy trip to the mountain.
It's a home made for someone who truly wants to enjoy the Whitefish lifestyle. Originally built when Whitefish was a working town, we wanted to pay homage to the home's simpler cottage roots but give it some true Montana flair. This can be seen in the chief cliff (locally sourced) fireplace stone. Because it sits on the river, we replaced the windows in the kitchen and dining areas with larger expanses of glass to capture the view. We also took out the traditional deck door and added a custom bifold patio door to further enhance indoor/outdoor living. This was really important since the square footage of the house is minimal.
We redid the kitchen completely with custom cabinets, granite counters, and a translucent glass mosaic tile. The custom bronze cabinet pulls have a copper finish to pull the copper flecks out of the granite, which is also complimented by the backsplash. We refinished the original wood floors, which after years of wear and tear, came out perfectly. The furnishings were based around the large painting, a gift from the artist to the homeowner, with whom they are close friends. We had it custom framed in Whitefish, and the palette grew from there. The clients are from the south, and she loved color and traditionally-framed furniture with a fun contemporary splash. We also had the rug custom made for the space, with an angled edge to allow for the new fireplace.
